The Michigan State Bar Foundation generally awards two types of grants:
1. Project grants, designated for Improvements in the Administration of Justice.
This grant application asks for basic information about the applicant organization and a description of the project and project funding and staffing.
2. Annual grants for civil legal aid to the poor.
This grant application asks for extensive information about the legal services which the applicant organization provides, and then asks for extensive information about the services the organization intends to provide with the funding awarded, and the resources (finances and staffing) the organization will use to provide those services.
To apply for a grant from the Michigan State Bar Foundation, you must first request a user identification number from the Foundation.
If you do not have a user identification number, you can request a user ID by sending an email to msbf@msbf.org, or call 1-800-968-6723.
